Temporary Insanity

Dear Mom,
It's that time of year when I go a little bit crazy.

These.seeds.are.everywhere.

They are in the grass.

The driveway.

The patio.

The roof  (and soon they will be in the gutters).

Hello...they are in the chicken coop.

And the chickens won't eat them!!

I am sitting on them.

And soon I will be pulling baby maple trees out of the garden.

These seeds are floating in the pond and glued to the rocks.

I spied a chicken feather among the seeds clinging to the rocks...and it wasn't until I posted the picture that I realized a frog was sitting there too!

I know this is a temporary condition.  We enjoy the shade the maple trees provide throughout the summer.

But WHY do they have to drop SO MANY seeds?!?!

Love, Bonnie Jo

For kids to play with? HELICOPTERS!!!

They're as obnoxious as the oak catkins which are still being tracked onto the rugs every time someone (the most guilty someone being the dog) goes outside.

However, I'll take catkins or helicopters (that's what my kids used to call them, too) over cottonwood seeds. We used to live next door to a cottonwood tree in Wisconsin and our window screens grew beards for weeks.

Hello to the Queen!

Bonnie... you having me laughing!!! I know how much these little things annoy you :) Amanda found a whole cluster... a flower, she called it... of these helicopters the other day. I told her not to show you, because you certainly would have nightmares about it! ~ Suzy

I'm right there with you! Umpteen times a day, I'm out there skimming them from the koi pond. The only thing worse is the pecan trees dropping their seed clusters. They turn everything they touch brown!
